Mad Scientist Monday #6: Are you Pondering what I'm pondering?

Today's Mad Scientist is Brain from the fantastic cartoon called 'Pinky and the Brain'.  Next to the one-liners from the Muppets some of the best shows of imaginary characters NOT on TV any longer SIGH they just don't make intelligent shows like this any more.  P.S. New Muppet movie <<--- you must watch this trailer--out this Thanksgiving ('bout damn time)

Although lately some of the Spongebob and Back at the Barnyard shows have great one-lingers occasinally~I don't get to watch much TV any more but I will hear something and ask the girls "did they really just say...?" as they are giggling madly.  Anyways, getting distracted by furry things and intelligent banter...back to our project....

We were crazy busy this weekend with projects and such.  I mean there are ONLY 81 days till Christmas after all?!? and lots of craft shows, gifts, costumes and decorating to do between now and then!!  So I only came up with this idea this morning on the drive to drop one of the kids off at school and I will show you the rest later when I finish....

Pinky and the Brain 

Pt. 1 Supplies:  
2 random picture frame things with backs or pictures on them I wanted to cover up~ I was looking for one big one but this is what I found and remember we are all about using up what we have at the house right?!
black paint
brown paint  gold paint
old sheet or otherwise for under frame paint/glue catching
Elmer's glue
cup for glue
spongey painter brushes
rippable, expendable book of cool literature....in this case works of Edgar Allen Poe~the book was on its last legs and has been in my drawer of cool papers 

Supplies Pt. 1

 One of the frames is complete with a picture and one is a mat board empty frame.  If you just have empty frames use them with a cardboard backing cut out and secured to the inside, all the way up to the front where the glass would have sat.  OR do the cardboard insert and painted frames separately and then put together when dry.  I wanted a little messy and wanted to work with what I have in the house.  But really the options are wide open, be creative!

This frame was cream colored and I wanted it black.  If you want your frame black or brown paint it  so it overlaps the inside image or backing.

 Rip the pages out of your book.  I did not cut these apart but left the pages intact so you can read most of the words.  Do not worry about rips when you put the pages down, it just adds character.  Or better yet collage parts of the pages all over.

This one has the Raven and Alone poems and the Tell-Tale Heart story.

 First I rubbed glue behind all the pages, placed the pages down where I wanted them and then rubbed a thin layer of glue on top.  I plan on using a spray sealer on this project when I am totally finished.

In the mat board one I was just using The Pit and the Pendulum story so when I had one page leftover I decided to cut it into strips and place it along the page seams.

And now for the drying process....we are waiting, waiting...Bueller, Bueller....
