The girls are joining the Trekkie ranks for the younger gen...comicon here they come

Yesterday we took the girls to see the newest Star Trek movie and I can say they were enthralled. They literally never took their eyes off the screens-except when I had to run them to the bathrooms (separately of course).

G2 immediately declared that I MUST make her an outfit like Uhura's (think modern version of 60s mini in athletic type fabric) and Gwen wants a red shirt--we did explain what usually happens to red shirts in the old shows but she likes the color red and well she liked ALL the characters she just could not choose her favorite.

Now G1 has watched all the old episodes she is not a Trekkie newbie--in fact that was how we used to get her to go to sleep as a baby was to put on the old episodes and it would lull her to sleep--seriously she is a strange one but we love her. G2 on the other hand for some reason never quite got into the old episodes (more of an original Star Wars gal) but she is hooked on the new movie she can't wait for it to come out on DVD.

I thought the movie was exciting and funny and adventurous. The lines set in stone by the original actors did not feel forced or just stuck on when said in this movie. In fact we have all decided to go see it again next week!

As a mom this is one of those rare movies with very little swearing and no unecessary gore just an adventure film that kids can watch and enjoy the movie.

So I am loving that it only costs $2 on Mondays to go see movies at our local dollar theatre, sure we have to wait for movies but it is worth it!

And just as a sidenote if you have an infant chances are they will not like all the loud noises of this movie so don't bring them and annoy the other moviewatchers with the baby screaming and crying ok? enuf said...SIGH.
