Been a bit of a stressful week so did not get all the things on my calendar planned. Lets just say that the inner social workings of kids athletic teams sometimes can feel like you just got a whiff of chaos theory. My daughter has decided to quit the swim team she has been on and we are moving on to another team yet to be chosen. I wanted to make sure this week that my daughter had support in her decision and believe me I fully backed her up. For some mental therapy we spent time together thrifting and choosing colors to paint our loft and designing our backyard. The weather was fairly decent in the high 50s and we were able to even uncover our ponds and start to do that mucky spring cleaning! And now we can hear the waterfall again and see the fishes swimming lazily in circles!
I did manage to get these bookmarks or hanging doodads done on antique cutter quilt pieces. This on is a gift but more are going to get their ribbons and move into the online store when it has it's grand opening soon!
Here is a handmade topsy-turvy doll that we thrifted...the old hag part with perky eyelashes and an apple....
...to give to the wooly curly headed princess on the other side...cute aren't they?
The girls found these bear patterns and a soft, flowy butterfly fabric....we love bears around here there is something about a good teddy that is so comforting.
This guy was stuffed at the bottom of a bin and was just begging to be rescued...isn't he appealing? Get it, a peeling? Flowery apple thingy? No, not really funny? yea probably right but well he is adorably handmade and has a loving home again...totally 70s style...should I give him a mouth since he appears to have lost his or would that just be creepy?
This was a gift for a teen boy...a fabric bucket to hold his 'stuff' in....this is Doodlebob from Spongebob, complete with a pencil....so if you watch Spongebob then you get the joke and you are giggling a bit at this point and if not well he does live in a pineapple under the sea so totally fictitious juvenile cartoony humor.....
This is the color we are painting our loft with some of that far left green (on the paint chip) and some form of brown stain accents--we are doing sort of a beachy theme because I REALLY REALLY REALLY miss the beaches where I grew up in Florida....did I say REALLY REALLY enough times? The loft is where the girls bedrooms open up to and we are even going to make screen doors for their rooms...and I am going to do the couches in some red and blue ticking--can't wait to show it to you as we go!
PS Hub gave me permission to start dreaming about a sewing room redo and I am going to start drawing some ideas out YAY YAY YAY....one room at a time right?
