Day 121
Ok maybe I am just a freak but when I was given the notions to choose from while making the memorial tablerunners I got to look through a big bag of my clients favorite buttons she had chosen to keep. I could barely contain myself....these are just some of the pictures, the only ones I forgot to get pictures of were the teeny ivory and white buttons used on clothes for the wee children. Here are a TON of pictures so enjoy!
In the end I did not use the buttons except on one runner because they really did not add to the flow of the vintage linens and would possibly have ripped them just from the sewing and pulling of having a button on them so I was just happy to play for a while!
These were made from real shells and you can see the ripples and feel how cool they are when touched....squeals of joy!
My mom had a button tin exactly like the one in this book, sorting, admiring, separating, touching, running my fingers through them....fond, fond memories so maybe my love of sewing all stems from button love?! and I still love reading The Button Box to my little G who is not so little any more....
Did you know you can join the National Button Society, founded in 1938..... they have a beginners book that you can download as well as some interesting classifications...really geeky I know but they are just soooo much fun!!
Oooo shinies and sparklies!
almost looked like salt dough but I know they were some other type of clay...big beautiful chunky flowers!
Tomorrow I will show you the laces and ribbons as well as the brooch posies I made with the buttons and the lace! Oh my goodness I have so much vintage sewing stuff to show you! What will you create today?
