Another music gig another outfit....pink Japanese cuteness

Well G2 had another gig last night and decided she wanted this cute skirt to wear over jeans of course. The pattern was a McCalls 5461 a fairly easy pattern to put together in just a matter of hours.

I can not remember what the name of this fabric is but it reminds me of gauze that has been dipped in something to stiffen it...but not too stiff and it did not shred too much while sewing...actually it was just stiff enough for this pattern which needed some body to make the ruffle part of the skirt stick out a little.

I sewed the view with the placket/applique thing on the front-supposed to put fabric covered buttons but I thought it would be too much with the pattern on the fabric. It zips up the back and I added some plain bias trim around the waist. It even has cute little pockets in the front but G1 has informed me that she does not use pockets and not to bother--uhhuh whatever 8yo.

She really is not a music diva she just likes her clothes and has certain ideas as to how they should look and what she can wear to a given event. Now she is drawing her outfit for another bar gig next Saturday...

This first picture is what happens when a dad annoys his kid who is being extremely grumpy because I forgot to take a picture of the skirt last night and FORCED her to put it on again today-oh the injustice. She still has those cute baby cheeks doesn't she?
