It used to be our tradition that we took art supplies to our weekly family trips but we got out of the habit over the past year.
Here is what we did on Sunday....the girls just wanted to do pencil drawings so off we went and since we are getting up early now with swimming we were able to get there right before it opened. This is a good time of the day as all the animals are active waiting to be fed and the weather is not too hot.
The tigers were especially feisty, growling at each other in an effort to see the keeper putting food in their inside space. You can't see from this angle but there are windows in the wall in front of where they are laying.
The mountain lion exhibit has this cool window where they always lay and so you are able to walk right up to them.
Baby ducklings were everywhere and these 2 thought we had food.
A beautiful swan.
Fuzzy duckling pile...so sweet.
Polar bear just chilling out.
Groundhogs are just the cutest things...this one came up and tried to stare down G2 it was hilarious. They had some cute teeny babies that they allowed to come out of the dens while we were standing there. These guys and the meerkats are just hilarious to watch.
One of the many peacock population that we caught in mid-leap.
Stanley Livingston Cranes-they are just almost too beautiful and graceful for words. The girls got some good sketches of these 'guys'.
The male tiger up close, these animals are just amazingly beautiful animals.
One day I will show the girls' sketches if they allow it. They are getting back into the swing so I am sure they will share when they get more comfortable.
Artist,Homeschooling Mom of 2 girls.....Letting the art out through needles, thread and fabric on a daily basis. A personal challenge to create something every day for 365 days. Whether it be through fabric and thread, paint, pencil, ceramics, music, design or just plain enjoying the art and inspiration that is around us. Stopping to view the beauty not just smelling the roses but to take it ALL in and enjoy each day!
