Day 59
So while watching the Olympics--especially the costumes of these ice dancers, loved the Phoenix--beading, doing a bit of free motion machine stitching as well as sketching and the 12 billion other normal life things that must occur....
I received a box from my Mother-in-law. She is going crazy cleaning out her house of the detritus that accumulates when you live in one place for many years. After visiting me recently she realized that I was a crazy fabric addict. She sent me a few other fabric goodies I will show soon but this is the prize. A quilt made by her Grandmother and she tells me 'oh you can just cut it up because it has a few stains on it and is really old' LOL here I am thinking it is basically beat up and batting coming out. NO it is in nearly perfect condition and merely needs some special quilt soap to wash it a bit and honestly it does not even need that because the stains are merely age and barely noticeable. It must have not really been used having been shut in a cedar chest for decades.
G2 snagged this right out of the box almost as I was opening it and is now snuggled safely sleeping under a warm present from the past. Something I know (given her rubbed off appreciation for old fabrics) she will treasure for life. When I went to kiss her goodnight she was rubbing the quilting and had that thinking look on her face...what must it be like to be 9 and suddenly realize there is a long history behind you, people you will never know just knowing the passage of time must be a huge step for her. I just gave her a hug and told her I was glad she was using it because quilts are meant to be used.
Tomorrow I will try to get a close up of the quilting and the tulips--very dainty, very sturdy...amazingly well crafted.
Sorry about all the fuzzy pics I am really trying to use my spiffy Droid phone BUT I think I will have to go back to ye olde digital soon as this is really annoying me to look at these pics. And I was having such fun with it lol.
