Day 133
Clothes were given to me by a family who had lost their daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother 7 years ago and had stored her clothes. These are made from the same clothes as the pillows.
The front was made of parts of button downs in cotton, silk and polyester blends. I love this side with all the buttons and pockets and well worn denim is just the best fabric, so soft.
After I put this all together I run it through the dryer so that it can get off any stray threads or show me where the stitches might be weak. These are blankets that are not meant to be stored but used daily and I want them to hold up.
This time I used small crosses machine stitched throughout the blanket to hold the two sides together and I liked how it turned out because it gives it the strength it needs to hold the weight of the fabrics but also does not detract from the clothes themselves.
I think this is my favorite section with Lady and the Tramp and Winnie the Pooh...it was requested that everyone's gift include a Winnie and a Harley-Davidson logo.
The knit side was a lot of fun to put together with all the colors and logos. Just look at that adorable striped Pooh and those reindeer are the cutest handmade prints.
Like a history project of a life well lived. These gifts have become so amazing to me because the family can literally wrap themselves in the memories of someone who still lives on in their hearts.
What will you create this weekend?
