Day 278 It has been a while since we have posted our Mad Scientist Mondays but it is mostly because our family have been enjoying the Spring weather and 'arting' around together~as well as cleaning, clearing and exploring. Our mad scientists this week are the Munster family from the TV show. My favorite character was most definitely Grandpa....so many great episodes, made me laugh all the time.
Grandpa, if you want the ketchup, just say "Please pass the ketchup", not "Shoot me the plasma!"
Always loved this show, The Munsters (Image from their Website). Funny how nowadays this family might be just considered 'normal' whatever that is?! How very awesome is it that they even have their own Official Website where you can travel down memorabilia memory lane! Click on the link or the Image to get there its really quite full of Munster awesomeness. I do remember TV in black and white and this was one of my all time favorite shows to come home from school and watch.
A few weekends ago we took our youngest to a local rubber stamp art show. It didn't really do too much for us in terms of inspiration overall, I mean don't get me wrong we saw a lot of great art and very talented artists but it just isn't my thing, interesting to check out though and now that's off my non-existent bucket list. The only thing we did do was learn how to make these little glass pendants. Go figure a rubber stamp art expo and we find glass doodads, inspiration can really come from unexpected places. My daughter and husband were hooked immediately especially after finding watch parts at the next booth. AHA! An idea was born...really it makes me excited to see them creating and the minute we got home they were starting to create their steampunky pendants.
These are the samples we first made, they are now magnets but I love them. |
Watch parts, glass thingys, metal pendant squares and glue. The glue wasn't even really strong and since my asthma does not react well to strong smells this was a blessing! |
Steampunky pendants drying. |
Watch parts we bought there and some from old watches we had here. |
Sorting. |
Fascinated. |
All the glue and pendants supplies were purchased from a local Albuquerque company Craft Fantastic -really nice people, I recommend you checking them out.
Watch parts were from a different company but now I can't put the card that I picked up with the supplies so if I figure it out I will add it here.
What will you create today?
